Enrollment Management: Retention Specialist

POSITION: A full-time, professional academic staff position is available in the Enrollment Management Division beginning April 15, 2024. The title for this position is Retention Specialist.  This is a renewable assignment, contingent on performance.  The salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution 
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusivity 
  • Strong written and oral communication 
  • Demonstrated ability to establish productive and collegial collaborative relationships with campus partners (ex. staff, faculty, students, etc.) 
  • Ability to independently plan, organize, and meet deadlines and goals 
  • Ability to develop and execute initiatives based on data trends

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Master's Degree in a relevant field from a regionally accredited institution 
  • Demonstrated understanding of retention and related issues in higher education 
  • Professional experience working in a higher education setting 
  • Experience working directly with students in a student support capacity
  • Familiarity with graphic design software or tools (e.g., Adobe Express, Canva)
  • Post college professional experience is preferred

DUTIES: 

Rapid Response Team (25%):

  • Create strategic communication plans in response to data trends to contribute to student support, persistence and retention
  • Coordinate at-risk student lists for distribution to appropriate campus stakeholders and develop a system to track follow-up
  • Design, maintain, and update messaging content in conjunction with other ARCC staff and campus partners

Student Outreach (50%):

  • Manage and engage in outreach to support students identified as at-risk 
  • Create programming to support student success and persistence 
  • Develop a scalable campus student success intervention program 
  • Coordinate ongoing oversight of, participation in, and content creation for a campus student success intervention program
  • Compile student engagement opportunities surrounding clubs and organizations for distribution to campus partners

Parent and Family Engagement (20%):

  • Support divisional parent and family social media; assisting with content creation, responding to comments and implementing new approaches. 
  • Draft the monthly current Blugold Family Communication newsletter 
  • Oversee the Blugold Parent & Family Ambassador program, which includes planning and staffing one retreat per-year, along with coordinating occasional volunteer opportunities
  • Partner with Housing and Residence Life to assist with the planning and execution of Family Weekend (one weekend each Fall)
  • Explore ways to build upon current initiatives and expand engagement opportunities for prospective and current parent and families
  • Design and create a yearly calendar for parents and families
